Visitors check-in to this unique corner of Indonesia from all parts of the planet. Hailed as an epicentre of marine bio-diversity these rich waters host the highest concentration of unique aquatic species found anywhere in the world. The area has become increasingly popular amongst underwater and particularly macro photographers.

But it is not teeming walls or spectacular drop-offs which draw divers here. On first sight the dark sandy stretches and small reefs appear rather uninspiring, but look a little closer and a whole universe of marine creatures starts to appear. Some cute, some familiar and some downright bizarre. The diving is superb and the variety of often surprising critters will not disappoint.

This page is dedicated to everything that is going on and updates of Lembeh Straits, latest macro and critter encounters, lembeh straits or Bitung conservation news, specifically the village of Makawidey and Kambahu Bay.
